Director of Reality Research

The Director of Reality Research should not be a people manager who happens to supervise researchers. They should be an active scientist with enough credibility to attract other scientists.

Scientific leadership

• Define and evolve Movendi's multi-year research roadmap.
• Translate strategic goals into research programs.
• Maintain scientific rigor across all research activities.
• Drive breakthrough thinking beyond incremental model improvements.

Research management

• Lead Reality Scientists and Research Engineers.
• Prioritize research initiatives.
• Review experiments and ensure reproducibility.
• Establish research methodologies and standards.

Academic collaboration

• Build long-term partnerships with leading universities.
• Launch joint research projects.
• Supervise internships, PhD collaborations, and visiting researchers.
• Represent Movendi in academic consortia and public research programs.

Publications and infrastructure

• Oversee Movendi Research Notes, and decide what stays proprietary.
• Coordinate conference submissions where strategically appropriate.
• Establish experiment review processes and define benchmark suites.
• Promote reproducible research and systematic knowledge sharing.

Ideal profile

• PhD in AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Vision, Computational Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
• 10+ years conducting frontier research.
• Strong publication record at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, or RSS.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary research teams.
• Demonstrated success collaborating with universities and research organizations.
• Comfortable in a fast-moving startup while maintaining scientific rigor.
